Calling All Women-EfferVaCious Launch
Do you feel good about your body? Do you have a beautiful body? I am in the middle of doing some writing that I hope to publish one day, & the question above plagues me daily.
As many other women, I have gone through peaks & valleys on how I have felt about myself throughout my 39 years. It use to depend on my workout schedule, or what the scale said. Now, if I can get into my pre-baby jeans, even if I have to suck-in a little, I am already having a great day.
My body image issues started very early. I can remember my sisters & I being called a "fat cats" as a loving nickname before I hit the age of 8. From a very early age, we were exposed to the same TV & magazines who glorify skeletal women, & promote these women as the essence of beauty. Even at an early age, I remember waiting for my mom in the grocery line up & looking at the cover of all the magazines they plunk at the cashier for you to grab on your way out. I gazed in awe, in wishing, in hoping, & in wanting of something that was so ridiculous - it only fed the imbalance that was already stirring within my adolescent mind & body.
I did not have these things explained to me, or sheltered from me, or ingrained what true beauty was all about.
So, as fate & universal pull has led me to where I am now, creating & offering a line of inspirational clothing I feel compelled to put it out there for others to ponder over. In unison that there are thousands, if not millions feeling, thinking & believing the same thoughts. My goal is to put something back, maybe, hopefully others will find inspiration & feel beautiful about who they are. Just as you are, right now.
All strength, beauty & confidence we need in life is within. That is where it all starts. You cannot have beauty without if it is not there within.
My goal when I started was to create something that made even 1 person think about what they were wearing & putting on each day. Every time you put something on, make it like a symbol to remind you of your potential. Remind you of your beauty - just as you are.
With all of the studies, statistics, & state of our electronic world feeding so much visual information to young minds - it is even more crucial for me to put something out there that offers something different - something positive. I believe you are what you wear. I believe that everything has meaning & meaning is everything. So when you get dressed for the day, when you put something on to present yourself to the world, what do your clothes say about who you are, what do you want your clothes to say about you?
I will sign off with that question....
I can feel ok when my daughter looks up at me as I change her diaper & asks me, "Mommy what says?" Even if she does not fully understand the depth, a great dialogue can at least be started & I hope that in years to come, she can look at those magazines a little differently than I did.
Thank you all for supporting our line, & our vibes.
Peace out & have an amazing day!
Sincerely,
Joanna
